What to include in a message

A single message with the relevant details attached is answered faster than a series of short ones. Useful details differ by enquiry:

  • Editorial or source queries — the article title and the passage in question.
  • Corrections — the article title, the passage, and a citation to the source that establishes the error.
  • Billing or refunds — the transaction date, the amount, and the descriptor that appeared on the statement.
  • Data protection requests — the nature of the request and any identifiers that would allow the relevant records to be located.
  • Technical faults — the page address, the browser, and the device.

Common requests

  • Refund of a purchase made under this brand within the 30-day window — see the refund page.
  • Access, correction, deletion, or portability of personal data — see the privacy notice.
  • Permission to quote or reproduce an article or figure.
  • Notice of a broken link, a rendering fault, or an inaccessible page.

What the desk does not handle

Some requests fall outside what this publication does, and a message asking for them will receive a short reply saying so rather than an answer:

  • Advice of any kind — professional, medical, psychological, legal, or personal.
  • Assessment, diagnosis, interpretation of symptoms, or recommendations about any individual situation.
  • Referrals to practitioners, clinics, or services.
  • Guest posts, link exchanges, sponsored placements, and unsolicited commercial offers.

Interference is not a crisis service and is not monitored outside business hours. Urgent matters should be directed to local emergency services.
